Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) was the Communications Enabler of the Avurudu Udanaya organized by the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) and held on 14th and 15th April 2015 at Thambuttegama.

SLT supported this initiative by SLRC with a view to going beyond its core business and to be a part of people’s lives by contributing towards SLRC’s endeavours to make the Sinhala / Tamil New Year 2015 a memorable one for the people of Thambuttegama area. Being the Communications Enabler, SLT had a Telecom Kalapaya at the Avurudu Udanaya, where visitors to the Telecom Kalapaya got the opportunity to experience the digital lifestyle. Traditional games were also held at the Telecom Kalapaya and the company went further to convert these traditional games into digital format where visitors also gained the new experience of playing the traditional games digitally. Other activities were also organized by the company such as Jana Gee competitions, water sports as well as the Avurudu Kumari competition. The most popular Avurudu Kumari was selected via SLT Facebook page.

SLT also sponsored bicycle races as well as boat races, helping to provide an all-round experience for visitors. People of all ages, from children to seniors enthusiastically participated in all the competitions.
